Backups: save and restore your world

Manual and automatic backups, how many your plan keeps, and how to restore or download one.

A backup is a full copy of your server's world and configuration, stored in the cloud away from the game node. Take one before anything you might regret: a new plugin, a version change or a big build.

Free plan

On Free no copies are kept in the cloud, but you can download your world as a .zip whenever you want from Backups. Keep that file safe on your computer.

  • Starter keeps 3 backups you create by hand.
  • Pro and above keep more and add an automatic copy every day at 04:00.
  • Before a restore, a version change, a world change or a region change, we take an extra copy automatically so you can go back.

When you reach the limit of your plan, the oldest copy rotates out. Lock a backup to keep it forever; locked copies never rotate.

Create a backup

  1. Open Backups on your server.
  2. Give it a name you will recognise later, such as "before the village".
  3. Press Create backup. The copy is ready in a minute or two, depending on the size of the world.

Restore a backup

Press Restore on the copy you want. The server stops, the world is replaced and the server will not start until the restore finishes. Players online are disconnected, so warn them first.

Download a backup

Press Download .zip to keep a copy on your computer or to move your world to another host. The file contains the world and the server configuration.
