Enshrouded 1.0 Server: What Changes on 15 October
Enshrouded leaves Early Access on 15 October. What Keen has confirmed for 1.0, what happens to server worlds, why there is no crossplay yet and how to update.

Enshrouded leaves Early Access on 15 October 2026, and every Enshrouded 1.0 server gets the same update: a new region, a level cap of 50, a skill tree reset and still no crossplay. Here is what Keen Games has confirmed, what it means for your world, and how our Enshrouded server hosting handles the update.
- Date: 15 October on Steam and PS5; Xbox Series X|S in spring 2027.
- Saves: worlds live on the server, characters on each player's PC. Back up before updating.
- Skill trees: reset at 1.0.
- Crossplay: not in 1.0.
- RAM: about 4.4 GB idle plus up to 100 MB per player, 6 GB at most.
1. What changes on 15 October
Keen announced on Steam on 25 June that Enshrouded leaves Early Access on 15 October. The press release adds PS5 and PS5 Pro on the same day and Xbox Series X|S in spring 2027 (Gematsu, quoting Keen). What Keen has shown for 1.0 so far:
- A new region, which creative director Antony Christoulakis told Eurogamer.de players could already see from a distance.
- Combat for mages and archers: nine new spells including summons, upgradable Eternal spells and arrows, and a heavy wand attack (1.0 combat post).
- Higher caps: level 50 for players, 55 for equipment.
- Performance, which Keen calls the other big challenge of 1.0 (27 August post).
The full changelog is due in October. We will update this post when it is out.
2. What happens to your saves
Keen's Dedicated Server FAQ draws a clear line: world progression is stored on the dedicated server, character progression only on each player's client. So 1.0 touches two things:
- Characters: the skill tree is reset, "hopefully for the last time" in Keen's words. Everyone gets their points back.
- Worlds: none of Keen's announcements up to 4 October says whether Early Access worlds carry over. Until the changelog does, back them up.
Worlds sit in the folder set by saveDirectory (./savegame by default). Keen's save game guide explains the files: the first world is 3ad85aea, each world keeps 10 rolling copies, and its -index file names the live copy under latest, which you can change to roll back. Copy the whole folder before you update.
3. No crossplay in 1.0
Keen's technical director, Julien Koenen, told Eurogamer.de that the team will not finish cross-play for 1.0 and plans to add it in a later patch, with no date. Keen's own Steam announcements and help centre do not mention cross-play. Adventure Sharing does work at launch, so PS5 players can share bases with PC players. For server owners:
- A PC dedicated server is for PC players only.
- Friends on PS5 play together on PS5, not on your server.
- Xbox arrives in spring 2027 on the then-current version, Christoulakis said.
4. Installing or updating an Enshrouded 1.0 server
If you host it yourself, Keen's installation guide still applies: the dedicated server unlocks in the Tools section of your Steam library, you run enshrouded_server.exe, and the first start writes enshrouded_server.json. Only Windows is supported. Keen's recommended specs ask for a 6-core CPU, 16 GB of RAM and 30 GB of free SSD space for 4 to 6 players.
The settings you will touch most, from Keen's configuration guide:
queryPort: 15637 by default; open it in your firewall.slotCount: 1 to 16 players.gameSettingsPreset: Default, Relaxed, Hard, Survival or Custom.userGroups: one password per group (roles guide); the password a player types decides what they may do.
On 15 October, update the server through Steam on the same day your players update.
5. Enshrouded 1.0 on 1up
Our Enshrouded page runs that same Windows server under Wine on our London and Paris nodes:
- Every start checks the public Steam build, so a restart after Keen ships 1.0 installs it.
- Pro (€12/month, 6 GB RAM, 40 GB disk) is the smallest plan for Enshrouded, matching Keen's 6 GB ceiling, with 5 backups. Take one before restarting into 1.0.
- The panel sets a player password, a separate admin password and up to 16 slots. The player password cannot edit bases or open chests, so share the admin one only with people you trust.
Studio and Ultra on our pricing page add RAM and room for more servers.
Verified against Keen Games' official announcements and server documentation, 2026-10-04; we will update this post after 1.0 ships on 15 October.
