Arma Reforger Dedicated Server: Scenarios, Crossplay and Mods
Run an Arma Reforger dedicated server: Bohemia's Linux server, the scenario list, crossplay with Xbox and PS5, Workshop mods by id, joining and kicking or banning from the panel.

An Arma Reforger dedicated server is where long Conflict campaigns, Game Master evenings and modded operations live, with your rules and your regulars. This guide covers Bohemia Interactive's server, running it on our Arma Reforger server hosting, the scenario and crossplay settings, Workshop mods, how players find the server and how to moderate it.
- What it is: Bohemia's free dedicated server, Steam app 1874900, for Windows and Linux. It reads its settings from one
config.jsonfile. - Who can join: PC, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 players can share a server. Each console platform is a switch in the panel.
- Mods: the server downloads Workshop mods by their sixteen-character id when it starts.
- On 1up: Arma Reforger needs 4 GB of RAM, so it runs on Free with the hourglass at ×2.5 and 24/7 from Starter.
1. Self-host or hosting?
Arma Reforger runs on Bohemia's official servers, but those reset often and run Bohemia's rules. A community server keeps your scenario, your mods and your bans.
- Self-host: install Arma Reforger Server with SteamCMD (
+login anonymous +app_update 1874900), write aconfig.jsonand startArmaReforgerServer -config config.json. You open the game port on your router; UDP 2001 is the usual default. - A hosted server: the server runs in a data centre and you change its settings from a web panel instead of editing JSON.
Either way the server is the same build. Bohemia shipped update 1.8.0.13 on 3 September 2026, and clients and servers must run the same version to meet.
2. Create an Arma Reforger server on 1up
- Create an account and press Create server.
- Choose Arma Reforger. On Free it runs with the hourglass at ×2.5 (your free time drains 2.5 times faster); Starter and up keep it online 24/7.
- Pick a region, London or Paris. The wizard measures your ping and suggests the nearest one.
- Pick a scenario and decide whether Xbox and PlayStation players may join (both are allowed by default).
- Create the server. The first start downloads close to 10 GB from Steam, so give it a few minutes; later starts only fetch new builds.
- When it is online, the Overview shows the IP line with the address and port.
3. The panel settings
Everything lives in the Game tab, in four sections. Each setting is written to config.json, which the panel shows as a preview, and each applies on the next restart.
| Setting | Key in config.json | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Scenario | scenarioId | The mission the server runs (list below). |
| Max players | maxPlayers | 32 by default, up to 128, and capped by the player slots of your plan. |
| Server password | password | Asked when a player joins. Leave it empty for a public server. |
| Xbox players | supportedPlatforms | Lets Xbox Series players in. On by default. |
| PlayStation players | supportedPlatforms | Lets PlayStation 5 players in. On by default. |
| Workshop mods | mods | Sixteen-character Workshop ids, separated by commas. |
| Server name | name | The name in the in-game server browser. |
The Scenario list carries the missions that ship with the server:
| Mode | Maps |
|---|---|
| Conflict | Everon, Northern Everon, Southern Everon, Western Everon, Montignac, Arland |
| Combat Ops | Arland, Everon |
| Game Master | Everon, Arland, Kolguyev |
| Capture & Hold | Briars, Montfort Castle |
Conflict - Everon is the full-size campaign and the default. Combat Ops suits a squad of friends, Game Master is for a hand-run evening, and Capture & Hold gives short fights on a small map.
Mind the slots. Starter allows 10 players, Pro 30 and Studio 50, so a 32-player Conflict server needs Studio or a Max players of 30 on Pro.
4. Workshop mods
Arma Reforger mods come from the in-game Workshop, and the server fetches them itself.
- Find the mod on the Arma Reforger Workshop and copy its id, the sixteen characters in the address of its page.
- Paste it into Workshop mods. Separate several ids with commas, up to 32.
- Restart the server. It downloads every mod before it loads the scenario.
The server refuses to start while one of the ids cannot be downloaded, and the Console names the mod. Remove that id and start again. Players download the same mods when they join.
Console players are pickier. If Xbox or PlayStation players stop seeing the server after you add mods, check that each mod is published for their platform, or turn the console switches off for a PC-only modded server.
5. How players join
The server registers with Bohemia's backend and shows up in the in-game browser on every platform you allowed.
- In Arma Reforger, open Multiplayer and the Community list.
- Search for the exact server name.
- Select it and join. If you set a password, the game asks for it.
PC players can also use Direct Join with the address and port from the IP line, as Host Havoc's join guide shows. Our ports are not the defaults, so copy both numbers from the panel. A server that is missing from the browser right after a start is usually still registering; give it a minute.
6. Moderating the server
Our server runs with BattlEye on, and the panel reaches the server through its RCon console, so you moderate without joining.
#playerslists who is online, with a number for each player.#kicktakes that number.#ban createbans a player for a number of seconds, or for good with 0.#ban listand#ban removeshow and lift bans.
The Players tab has the same kick and ban next to each name. We do not set an in-game admin password, so nobody can log in as admin from inside the game; moderation goes through the panel.
7. Limits worth knowing
- No custom scenario files. The Scenario list holds the missions that ship with the server. A scenario that comes from a mod is not in the list yet.
- No in-game admin. As above, kick and ban from the panel.
- Backups cover the profile and saves. Panel backups copy the server profile and its
savesfolder, so take one before you switch scenario or mods.
For the RAM, an empty Conflict - Everon holds about 2.5 GB, so the server starts at 4 GB; a full round with AI and vehicles is smoother on 8 GB. With prices from our pricing page, Starter (€5/month) gives the 4 GB the server starts on, 20 GB of disk and 10 slots; Pro (€10/month) gives 8 GB, 60 GB and 30 slots; Studio (€20/month) gives 16 GB, 80 GB and 50 slots.
If your group plays other survival and shooter games, our guides to a Rust wipe schedule and to free vs paid game server hosting help you plan a server.
Tested on Arma Reforger 1.8.0.13 (server build 24870635), 2026-10-08: settings checked against our image on 1up v0.282.4. Our image starts the server with BattlEye and answers RCon; no game client has joined it on our cluster yet.
