FiveM is in beta: you can create your server already, but we are still tuning its image and it may change without notice.

Guide · FiveM

## Host a FiveM server

FiveM lets you run your own multiplayer server for Grand Theft Auto V with your own rules, maps and scripts, from a quiet freeroam for friends to a full roleplay city. The server is Cfx.re's FXServer for Linux; we fetch the pinned build from Cfx.re when the server starts, and no Rockstar game file ever reaches our nodes. Every player brings their own copy of the game and the FiveM client.

Your server lives in one folder, server-data: server.cfg holds the settings and resources holds every script and map. Our backups copy that folder and skip the FXServer build, which the server downloads again. The server signs in to Cfx.re with your own key, so the free key's limit of 48 players applies.

### From an empty panel to your first session

1. Create a free server key with your own Cfx.re account at portal.cfx.re, under Servers, Registration keys.
2. In the panel, choose FiveM and a plan of at least 2 GB.
3. Paste the key into the wizard. You are the Server Admin under the Cfx.re platform license; 1up stores the key encrypted and only hands it to your server.
4. Set the player slots, up to 48.
5. Start the server. The first boot downloads FXServer and the default resources; when the console prints that the license key authentication succeeded, the server is open.

### Bringing your friends in

Players open FiveM, press F8 to open the client console and type connect followed by the address the panel shows. Once the server has been online for a few minutes it also appears in the FiveM server list under the name you gave it.

### What you can change from the panel

The player slots and your Cfx.re key are applied on every start. Everything else lives in server.cfg and in the resources folder, which you edit with the file manager or SFTP: add a resource folder, add an ensure line for it to server.cfg and restart.

### How much RAM FiveM needs

A server with the default resources is light, so the floor is 2 GB. Roleplay frameworks, large maps and dozens of scripts grow it with every player, which is why we suggest 4 GB for a busy city. The 10 GB of disk holds the FXServer build, your resources and their data.

### Running the server as the owner

The panel console takes FXServer commands, lists who is online and sends chat messages to every player. txAdmin is not available on 1up for now. If you sell anything to your players, it has to go through your own Tebex store, as the Cfx.re terms require; 1up sells nothing on your server.

### When the launch goes wrong

If the server stops before it starts and the panel asks for a key, paste your Cfx.re key in the Game tab. If the console says the license key could not be authenticated, the key is wrong or was revoked: create a new one at portal.cfx.re and replace it. A script error points at the resource that failed; remove its ensure line and restart to check.

FAQ · FiveM

## Questions about FiveM servers

It starts at 2 GB of RAM, so the wizard only offers plans with that much or more. Roleplay servers with many scripts should take 4 GB.
